Paternity & Father’s Rights
Paternity & Father’s Rights
As a father, you are deeply committed to your children – and we'll advocate for your right to remain an important part of their lives. We are with you through negotiations, developing a parenting plan, and showing the court that your plan serves the best interests of your child.
On July 1, 2023 Florida passed a law that allows unmarried fathers to have equal parental rights and responsibilities as their coparents. This opens the door for fathers to be more actively involved with their children. However, there may still be disagreements concerning parental responsibility, child-related financial issues, and timesharing schedule, relocation or other issues.
If you have previously lost parental rights, it may be possible to restore at least some of those rights. The court doesn't expect every parent to be perfect, but you will have to do the work and show that you are making changes to be the best parent you can be for your child..
Throughout the process, our team is here to empower you and guide you.
